Debra Ward
Born in Banff, Debra spent her childhood playing in the woods, watching the light and listening closely. The textures and patterns of the primal forest, the undulating coulee and cool, clear watershed inform her painting vocabulary. Direct observation of nature forms a deep imprint and is the heart of the artwork. Debra says her aim is to weave a coherent world view and a sense of her place in it. “A beautiful world, if I can.” A graduate of Alberta University of the Arts, she went on to teach painting and drawing there.
